What do you do when clients don't pay?
Posted by: kobbydavies - 01-27-2024, 11:09 AM - Forum: Small Businesses - Replies (3)

I think it depends very much on what business you're in.

I am a freelance graphic designer. From time to time, I get lowball clients who refuse to pay. So what I do now to secure all my payments are as follows:

  1. Make sure your business is registered, even if it's a freelance entity.
  2. Always have a contract or agreement of sorts. Make sure your contract is well written and protects both parties well. It could go a long way and give your clients the confidence to work with you too.

How do you show a non-paying client that you are serious and not playing around
Posted by: kobbydavies - 01-27-2024, 11:07 AM - Forum: Small Businesses - No Replies

Since good relationships are based on trust, be honest about how you feel. It’s better to know sooner than later if the collaboration is workable. Here are some questions to ask yourself:

  1. Is the problem the person, work, or the budget?
  2. Since most people don’t change, is there some way you can modify your behavior?
  3. Negotiate from a place of compromise. For example, I understand and respect your position but I feel differently. Let’s find a third way that can work for both of us.

  Best attitude for an entrepreneur
Posted by: Starmix - 01-27-2024, 07:25 AM - Forum: Entrepreneurship - No Replies

If you aspire to become an entrepreneur, then proceed, however, as yourself if you have the qualities to become one. An entrepreneur is not defined by how much money you have in your bank but by the ability to deal with people. If you can't deal with people better do not proceed. Having an impressive attitude is what people like and people are your customers who bring money to you. One of the worst attitudes people dislike is an entrepreneur with a toxic attitude. People will remember you at that and never expect to see them again in your life. They will stay away from you making your business sink.

Small businesses that could turn big
Posted by: Starmix - 01-27-2024, 07:12 AM - Forum: Small Businesses - Replies (1)

If you aspire to operate a business and you are so adamant about pursuing it because it is small, well you might be wrong. Not all big businesses as you see around start with a big capital. One big-time businessman in my country started with a small business selling slippers. He surpassed all difficulties and after some years he became wealthy. He is the owner of SM malls in the entire country. My Henry Sy first sod 6 pairs of clippers in the sidewalk. He suffered the heat and the rain, but he never complained. He was able to build a business empire in the entire country. Therefore, let us not conclude that small businesses are a burden but a chance that could lead to richness.

Affiliate Marketing and Print-On-Demand: Which is Better
Posted by: Joffery - 01-26-2024, 08:25 AM - Forum: Generating Income - Replies (1)

In the quest for lucrative online ventures, many tout affiliate marketing as the premier choice. The appeal lies in its avoidance of costly inventory investments and the alleviation of manufacturing hassles. With no packaging or shipping concerns, the process seems streamlined, eliminating the waiting game for products to reach the buyer. The added bonus? No customer service entanglements. The prevailing advice echoes the simplicity of promoting a link to drive sales, yet reality often diverges from this optimistic outlook.
On the other hand, Print-On-Demand offers a different avenue, circumventing the need for personal inventory acquisition or product manufacturing. This approach also sidesteps the complexities of packaging and shipping. The crux of this method involves crafting a product design using graphic design tools, subsequently uploading it to a Print-On-Demand shop, and creating a mockup. For those leveraging platforms like Etsy, the entire process can be automated, including sales generation (you might have to run ads, though)

Do you have some ideas for an online business?
Posted by: kobbydavies - 01-25-2024, 08:17 PM - Forum: Small Businesses - Replies (1)

I absolutely do, and moreover, those won’t be just random ideas that could be found all over the web, - those are ideas I have personally tried and found working.

You might already know that there are two types of businesses: products based and service based, and that service based businesses are easier to start and require no huge investments.
However, if we speak about online businesses, the most profitable businesses are those product-based, and I mean both digital and physical products

What are the most interesting business ideas for homemakers?
Posted by: kobbydavies - 01-25-2024, 08:10 PM - Forum: Small Businesses - No Replies

Instead of going right away suggesting this or that business, I'll dare to share instead some behaviours and attitudes that you need to embrace if you really want to start a business (or take a different path in your life).

We don't have any background about yourself. About your interests, skills, knowledge, experience, hobbies. About your studies, about where you live, about what are your goals and ambitions, about what do you want for your life.
How can one give you realistic and serious input?
Are there businesses or ideas that could work for all of us? Why they don't exist?

What are some great business ideas that you wouldn't mind giving away for free?
Posted by: kobbydavies - 01-25-2024, 08:07 PM - Forum: Small Businesses - No Replies

I have this idea, from quite some time, but unfortunately I din get proper time to work on it.

So as the name goes,
how about making a machine, which takes a printed paper from one side and gives back a completely blank sheet back ?
From my personal experience in college and now in office, I have seen people (Including me) taking a lot of prints everyday, however eco-friendly one tries to be, some work needs to be done on hard copies.
Majority of the print-outs taken are for temporary work and goes to garbage ultimately. My major concern is to reduce this wastage. Using conventional paper recycling takes lot of time and also degrades the quality of the paper.

How do companies make extremely similar products without infringing patents?
Posted by: kobbydavies - 01-25-2024, 08:00 PM - Forum: Small Businesses - No Replies

  1. Most products aren’t patented. I mean, patents last 20 years so anything you can name that hasn’t changed in the last 20 years likely has no patents on it.
  2. They may just look similar.
  3. They may not be subject to patent.
