How do companies make extremely similar products without infringing patents? - kobbydavies - 01-25-2024

  1. You never know when both are made by the same company. It’s very easy to walk down the shampoo aisle and say “everybody’s doing the Old Spice thing now. I’m going to support Old Spice for their awesome commercials and sincere marketing to men versus all these copycats.” Then you realize all those copycats are owned by Procter & Gamble, all made in the same factory, and all their commercials are made by the same ad agency. Another example, I loved the movie Prince of Egypt, and for years rolled my eyes at DVDs of Joseph King of Dreams. It was obviouslly a cheap chinese rip off. But then I saw it, and realized quickly it was actually the same team that made Prince of Egypt. My misdirected loyalty hurt them.
