Could health insurance be better? - ZandraJoi - 06-17-2023

Could health insurance be better? Our plan is a high deductible as we don’t use health insurance often but it’s nice to have it there when we have health issues. However, I definitely feel for what we pay in the way of insurance, it could be much better. More individualized instead of a one size fits all approach.
If you could have it be based on your own needs, what would you add & subtract to your plan? I'd add in for us to cover more alternative modalities as that's what we use the most but they are also not covered by insurance unfortunately.

I am of the opinion that it is not supposed to be a one size fits all approach. There are certain health issues that should mean that a different package is set up for the person. What they are paying as insurance fee should be different too especially when it is confirmed that the insurance company is going to cover a higher cost for their treatment.

Health insurance could improve by reducing costs and increasing coverage. For example, lowering premiums and copayments would make care more affordable. Expanding coverage to include mental health and preventive services ensures comprehensive care. Streamlining claims processes and enhancing transparency can reduce patient stress. Implementing value-based care models focuses on patient outcomes, potentially lowering overall healthcare expenses.
